Located on the Pacific Coast in the sea side community of La Colonia (La Penita), Nayarit, Mexico.

Take a stroll through the streets of La Colonia, and discover the warm welcome of its residents. The local store keepers will help you with your Spanish while you make your purchases, and the kids in the street will greet you with a friendly ‘Hola’ as you walk by.

Listen out for the local vendors, selling fresh fruits and vegetables, breads and ice cream.

Eating Out:

La Colonia has several small taco stands serving delicious local fare. La Penita and Rincon de Guayabitos are just a short taxi or collectivo ride away, and have many great eating establishments ranging from inexpensive taco stands to fancy restaurants.

Services:

La Colonia has many small grocery stores for everyday necessities, as well as butchery, pharmacy, beer store etc. The bank, doctors, dentists, and larger grocery stores can be found in La Penita.

Weekly Market:

La Penita has a great outdoor market every Thursday. Here you can find anything from fresh fruit and vegetables, baked treats, beautiful silver, to colourful talavera pottery and other Mexican arts and crafts.

Whale watching, Fishing and Surfing:

Spend a day whale watching or fishing with one of the experienced guides located on Guayabitos beach. There are several surf spots within a short drive; Colin will be happy to point you in the right direction!

What to Bring:

Please bring your own beach towels. We have boogie boards, surfboards, and beach umbrellas for guest use.
